Three Travel Bites of the Week

Here are Three Travel Bites of the Week for your consumption:

1. I am insanely excited about STA’s World Traveler Internship. Through an extensive selection process, two interns will be chosen to travel to 8 different countries from Brazil to Japan in the span of 3 months. They must document every aspect of the trip through video, photographs, blog posts, or interviews with guides and fellow travelers to inspire young people and students to get out there and travel. I am definitely going to enter and give it a shot and you should check it out too at http://www.worldtravelerintern.com/.

2. BBC’s MyWorld competition wants to know how you see the world. People from every continent are eligible to submit a two-minute documentary to share their unique perspective on life, whether it be positive, negative, static, or evolving. If you have a special story to tell then you can learn more about the competition at http://tr.im/Muky. Your video could be selected to be shown online and on BBC World news to prove that there is no one way of looking at life.

3. Do you want to be a constant nomad but still maintain a successful career? Brazen Careerist and the Matador Network are teaming up to help you find that balance. They are conducting a location-independent lifestyle webinar. “Career-advice expert, author, columnist and speaker Penelope Trunk will teach you how to build a career that fits the nomadic lifestyle of travelers and travel writers / photographers / filmmakers.” This webinar is free and is on February 10th at 9pm EST. For more information and to register visit http://tr.im/MLzF.

Have a good weekend!

Three Travel Bites of the Week

Every Friday I’ll post links to travel news of the week that I think is worth a glance:

1. First up, you can vote for your favorite travel blog in the 2010 Weblog Awards. The top five finalists are Go Backpacking, Camels & Chocolate, The Vacation Gals, A Traveler’s Library, and Everything-Everywhere. Go to http://2010.bloggies.com/to read up and cast your vote for the best travel blog of the year by Sunday, January 31st.

2. Charyn Pfeuffer is an amazing woman. Her Global Citizen Project is to tackle “12 community projects in 12 countries over 12 months” to not only do her part and give back to the world but more specifically to give something back to the people and places that are the all important backbone of travel. She cannot do this alone though and needs your help. If you can either donateĀ  to her cause or just plain spread the word through your blog, Twitter, Facebook or whatever, it would be most appreciated. Visit globalcitizenproject.blogspot.com to learn more.

3. David Lee, Editor-in-Chief of GoBackpacking.com and MedellinLiving.com, is sharing his 3 years of travel blogging experience with the rest of the travel community through http://travelblogsuccess.com/. The online course starts on February 1st and you can go to the site now to sign up. If you want to improve your travel blog this is an amazing opportunity to learn from one of the best bloggers out there right now.

Happy Friday!
